Adenomyosis
Adenomyosis is a condition where cells from the lining of the uterus (endometrium) are found in the uterine muscle. While the cause of this condition is not known, but is fairly common, affecting one in ten women. It can cause heavy painful periods in some, while many remain asymptomatic. The impact of adenomyosis or its treatment on fertility remains unsubstantiated due to the paucity of data [Ref]. Therefore subfertility in women with adenomyosis remains ‘unexplained’. However, recent evidence is coming up showing a negative impact of adenomyosis on female fertility [Ref]
